Help please! Is fish oil a blood thinner?

Nope. The traditional definition of a "blood thinner" is something that makes it harder to clot. Fish oil doesn't fall into that category, so no, i wouldn't call it a thinner.

Comparable effects. Both fish oil and flax oil contain omega 3 fatty acids which are known to significantly thin the blood. With both the effects are dose-related; higher amounts thin the blood more. I do not know of any studies comparing their effects on thinning blood but would expect they would be fairly comparable. See www.Parade.Com/health/askdrrosenfeld/nutrition/fish-oil.Html. Fish oil is a blood thinner that doesn't help broken eye vessels. Is carrot juice also a blood thinner that doesn't help broken eye vessels to heal?

Neither do. Fish oil does prolong bleeding time but not significantly, unless used in high doses usually combined with other anticoagulants like aspirin. Carrot juice, a good source of beta carotene, insignificantly affects bleeding time. Now, your broken eye vessels would not be expected to heal faster with the above, but may slightly increase bruising occurrence, particularly with subconjunctival hemorrhage. Read more...

We do give omega-3 for tg, the benefit in later studies show that you have to take at least a dose of the range of 4gm a day. Antiplatelets and bblockers should be continued along with statin to lower LDL and smooth out the arteries. Read more...
