In brief: Depends

If one's sleep apnea is mild then perhaps using breathe rite strips on nose as well as treating with nasal steroid spray is ok otherwise may need to consider CPAP breathing apparatus at bedside and/or nasal soft palate surgery.
Of course confirm sleep apnea with a sleep study first.

In brief: Nose strips

You may try nose strips or nasal sprays for this condition but they usually don't do very much.
It is a narrowing of the air passages and usually needs such treatment as weight loss or breathing apparatus such as cpap. You need to see a lung specialist.

In brief: CHEAP SLEEP

If you value your sleep and value your life, then I would not take a cheap way out to combat your apnea.
Snoring can be treated with nose strips or an appliance. Sleep apnea is snoring and not breathing for a period of time. See a dentist for an appliance. You won't regret it or will your family.

In brief: Sleep Study

You need to see a sleep physician and have him order a sleep study.
Once you know the severity of the problem, you can search for the most economical effective treatment. This is usually CPAP. Your health insurance should pick up most of the cost.

In brief: Guidance

You need guidance to determine if you have OSA and how bad it is.
OTC dental appliances may help if OSA is minimal.
