Can I use oil of oregano in addition to augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) (i have a sinus infection and read about the benefits of this natural remedy).?

YES. There are no known interactions between oregano oil & augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a good broad-spectrum antibiotic but many sinus infections are viral &/or fungal. Oregano oil kills viruses, fungi & bacteria so is reasonable to take as well. Also consider pelargonium sidoides (sold as umcka), an herb proven effective for sinus infections. I also advise taking a probiotic for anyone on antibioitics.

Will Amoxcillin or augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) will help me if have sinusitis or upper respiratory infection?

Likely viral. Almost all upper respiratory infections and sinus infections are caused by viruses antibiotics do not help these illnesses. Antibiotic should not be routinely prescribed. You should focus on symptomatic treatment using medications like Afrin, (oxymetazoline) cough medicine, and decongestants.
Only if bacterial. These antibiotics will help only if the cause is bacterial and not viral Your Health care provider will make this decision.
The vast. Majority of Upper respiratory infections are viral and therefore Augmentin nor Amoxicillin will help. Time is the best cure and remember you may have symptoms for a week or more. Usually no more than Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin is needed but certain other 0ver-the-counter cough/cold medicines. Antibiotics should be reserved for complicated/ severe cases.

Can I take omnicef and augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) together? I have a sinus infection and was prescribed omnicef but im already on augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is this safe?

Similar class. Both are similar in way they attack bacteria. Overall Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is more effective for sinus infections. Omnicef is not used too often anymore for sinus infections and this is supported by the Infectious Disease Society of America. May get more Belly issues on both together. If sinus infection persists with Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) it needs another antibiotic or no antibiotic as a virus/mold/pollution is cause.

I have a sinus infection I started augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) wedsnday and my eyelid is still a lil swollen when will the swelling go down please help?

Probably. If your eyelid continues to swell, especially if the eye becomes red you would need to be re-evaluated to rule out an orbital cellulitis. There are bacteria that can be resistant to Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) and if the condition continues to progress the antibiotic may need to be switched. Worst case scenario is an orbital cellulitis requiring intravenous antibiotics.
Soon. It appears that you have been given the right antibiotic regimen for the problem. It takes time for the medicine to work. Make sure the full course of Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is taken. Ibuprofen and perhaps warm compresses will aid in comfort. If symptoms do not abate, see md again, and perhaps a culture and sensitivity test can be done to find a more targeted antibiotic regimen. Good luck!

I have a sinus infection & ear infection. I was prescribed azithromycin, that did not work. I am takin augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) my nose is stuffy, is this normal?

Use decongestant. Get Pseudoephedrine (or oxymetozaline), nasal saline irrigation with neti-pot, nasal steroid spray and see if these do not relieve the congestion.
Congestion. Hello. Nasal congestion is a common symptom of sinusitis. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a much better antibiotic for a sinusitis and sudafed may help with the congestion. Also saline irrigation will clean and mobilize your mucus.

I'm being treated for an acute sinus infection but have been on augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) for a week and the pain is getting worse and spreading. Any suggestions?

Multi-factorial. The discomfort of sinusitis has as much to do with obstruction of drainage and congestion as it does with inflammation. It does not appear that you are irrigating your nares with saline solution and a Neti-pot, nor using a decongestant (pseudoephedrine, oxymetozaline, etc.) You would probably benefit from both and if it gets worse see an ENT doctor. Best wishes.

I've had a sinus infection for a few weeks. I'm taking augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate). My mucus is thick and sticky. Am I in the last stages of my sinus infection?

Hard to say. Thick mucus means you need additional hydration--more fluids--speak to your doctor about saline sinus rinse, humidifier/vaporizer. If you have fever or sinus tenderness you need to be reseen. Keep away from others who smoke or anything that irritates your airway. Use saline nasal spray in addition and showers to moisten your secretions. Feel better!
