In brief: Pre-diabetes

Impaired faisting glucose is used to describe fasting glucose btw 100 and 125.
Your Insulin level is also quite high suggesting that your body does not respond to Insulin normall (insulin resistance). Losing weight will help your body improve its responsiveness to Insulin and keep sugars in a normal range. Many people w/ Insulin resistance do well w/ diet with minimal sugar & white flour.

In brief: Maybe impaired

A fasting glucose of 12 is not normal, but not diabetes.
It would be called “impaired fasting glucose”. Normal is 100 or less; diabetes is 126 or higher. There is a high chance of progressing to diabetes. Often there is a family history, obesity, hypertension, and abnormal lipids. The best treatment is diet/weight loss/exercise. Abnormal cholesterol and BP should be treated.
