2-3 weeks. Many people experience bloating that comes and goes depending on what you eat, changes in activity, or hormone changes. If you cannot explain the bloating, and it persists for 2 to 3 weeks, it's time to see your doctor. Either the bowels or the ovaries could be a problem.
A few weeks. While you're waiting, pay attention to what foods or situations seem to make the bloating worse. Outside of the brain and spinal cord, the gut has the next highest concentration of nerve cells. Stress makes your gut not work correctly, leading to gas and poor absorption of nutrients.
