Find the cause: The issues are recurrence and life threatening clotting problems and pulmonary embolism. Full evaluation and study of coagulation will require being off the meds which generally is for six months. Then depending on status, risks your obgyn can guide you.

Upper extremity DVT: Upper extremity DVT is usually treated anywhere from 3 to 6 months depending on the extent of the DVT and the cause. Upper extremity DVT is usually do to an intravenous catheter or to a vein compression. Be certain that you are being treated for a DVT and not a superficial clot. I would recommend not getting pregnant until the vein clot issue is resolved.
