In brief: Theories and weight

Some kids taking stimulants fail to gain weight which can cause poor growth.
We also see children presenting with growth failure (gf)who do not have trouble with weight gain while taking stimulants. Chronic stimulant use may decrease the pituitary's ability to secrete growth hormone. This is still theory, but underweight isn't the only reason for gf in some stimulant-dependent kids.

In brief: Effect on appetite

In children Adderall and other stimulants - ritalin (methylphenidate) can affect growth by suppressing appetite and resulting in inadequate calorie consumption.
If the child has a good appetite this should not be a problem. But is meals are skipped, like lunch, and other meals not completely eaten, growth may be slowed.
