Will a fiber rich diet help constipation?

Daily recommended. Dose is 25-30 gms a day. Besides fiber drink atleast 6-8 glasses of water and take a stool softener twice a day. Stay active and if this all doesnt help then see a GI doc for further workup.
Fresh fruits and veg. Having 5-7 servings a day of fresh fruits and vegetables should help constipation. Aim for at least 25 grams of fiber a day and a gallon of water or fluids a day. Beans, legumes and whole grains are also high in fiber. Dairy, meat, poultry and fish have no fiber. Seeds and nuts also contain fiber.
