In brief: Could be
People with a strong family history of depression are "predisposed".
Check your family history. Even if anecdotal stories surface about seasonal depression, winter blues or more serious history you may have your answer.

In brief: Possibly
It is known that there are genetic risk factors related to depression.
So, even if your depressive epsiodes appear to be explained by specfic circumstances, it is very possible that there are genetic risk factors that make it more likely for you to become depressed.

Although some people may be more prone than others because of genetic factors to having situational depression, many people respond to overwhelming negative events with depression, discouragement, and feelings of hopelessness that well may be reality based and best "treated" by resolving the issue, if possible.

In brief: Feeling Good
There are several types of depression.
Reactive depression occurs as a result of loss and eventually we adjust. If one does not adjust or if the cause is not clear certainly seek professional help. "feeling good" by david burns is an excellent self-help book based on science. Don't let the thickness of it intimidate you. We are not at the mercy of our genes. Search "epigenetics."
