I think my nose is still broken but this has been this way since I was a kid. Is there anything I can do to breathe better in the mean time?

In brief: Septum or turbinates
Problems breathing usually are related to anatomic issues and/or mucosal issues.
Anatomic reasons for nasal obstruction include a 1) deviated septum (+/- trauma) 2) enlarged turbinates (usually inferior turbinates). Mucosal issues are related to the lining of the nose swelling: 1) allergies 2) infection (acute or chronic sinusitis) 3) viral infections.

If this is something you have had for a while it is likely an anatomic issues. Nasal polyps can also cause problems with breathing.

In brief: See an ENT
See an ENT doctor to check for a deviated septum or nose.
A breathe rite strip or surgery might help.

In brief: Breathe right strip
The breathe right strips that are sold in pharmacies can be very helpful for you if you have a broken nose.
Also steroid or antihistamine nasal sprays can also be helpful but these are prescription. An ENT doctor should look in your nose and see what the problem truly is.
