Are there any tests to check for inguinal hernia in a female? Short of surgery? Had hernia repaired with mesh and then mesh removed. Pain returned

In brief: Yes

Start with consult with surgeon ultrasound, or ct scan may be needed if not certain.

In brief: Femoral hernia

Femoral hernias is less common than inguinal hernia but basically in the same area.
Being that you have had two surgeries and still with same symptoms, i recommend a visit with your surgeon and ultrasound. Okay to get second opinion. Good luck.

In brief: CT and/pelvis

Recurrent inguinal hernia is a complicated operation.
Inguinal neuralgia or inguinodynia is pain post-repair. Clinical exam w/ ct and/pelvis yield best results of issue. Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair is ideal for previous open inguinal hernia recurrences. Steroid & Marcaine injections at ilioinguinal & genitofemoral nerves may also help in pain relief if there's no new hernia...
