In brief: Rehab knee injury

If the weakness of the muscles is due to the knee injury, then a rehabilitation program is indicated.
With an acute knee injury (eg., sprain), subsequent leg weakness is unusual since these heal in about a week. For ligament sprains/tears, etc. The inability to use the knee/leg for an extended period of time lets the muscles become very week. The treatment is physical therapy until healed.
