We're wondering are we able to pregnant. What are the tests for men and women? Are there any over-the-counter tests (reliable?) or only hospital tests?

In brief: Infertility
For men there are no test.
For women there are ovulation kits that will show only if you ovulate monthly. The doctor with specific test will see if you can ovulate, if your tubes can carry the egg, if your uterus can host the pregnancy . 40 % of infertility is male factor, 40% female and 20% unknown. If no ability to get pregnant in 1 year please see an ob/gyn.

There are at home kits sold in the US that detect the presence of a sperm protein. The sensitivity of the test is roughly that it will register as positive if the >20 million, and negative if below. If negative, should get normal semen analysis at doctor's. If positive, still might be infertile, since just because you have sperm, they may not be functional. Caveat emptor. If possible, seeing a fertility doctor is usually the best option.
