In brief: See Doc or ENT

Sounds like you should have him checked for sleep apnea caused by enlarged tonsils and adnoids from allergies, illness or both.
Also carrying extra weight is a contributor to snoring/sleep apnea. Environmental allergies and asthma are also possible contributers.

Try to characterize the sounds your son is making, make an audio or video tape if possible. Simply listening for the frequency and length of pauses and gasps will be very helpful when he's evaluated. In brief: Do some checking

If your two year old is falling asleep when he is playing with his friends, or if he sits down briefly, or seems excessively crabby for a 2yo he may be showing signs of a sleep disturbance.
If you tape the sounds he makes in sleep, check for pauses in breathing.More than 15 secs is worrisome.Write down what u see, hear & take to your dr. Sleep probs @ this age tend to get worse, month to month.

In brief: " Blockage" is what

needs to be investigated.
Video a few minutes of his noisy breathing. Take him & the video to his pediatrician for a history & physical, including a review of his growth & current weight-for-height. His pediatrician will refer him for an overnight sleep study & to an ENT to determine if he has sleep apnea. Sleep-disordered breathing can cause developmental delays & behavior disorders.
