Do calcium supplements decrease prostate cancer risk? If so, how many mg/day? Should a man stop calcium supplements after finding prostate cancer?

No real evidence. There has been epidemiologic data and a phase i clinical trial of vitamin d as a potential chemopreventative agent for prostate cancer, but the data are equivocal. We continue to recommend usrda levels of calcium + vitamin d in our patients with prostate cancer. Especially with metastatic prostate cancer, those on hormones are at high risk for osteoporosis and skeletal related events. Take care..
See below. The medical literature has no good evidence that calcium iether helps prevent or causes prostate cancer. I would take calsium because we are seeing more osteoporosis in men than ever before.
