In brief: Varicose Veins

You seem to be describing varicose veins which typically enlarge and bulge when standing and disappear and decompress when lying.
Varicose veins are usually the result of malfunctioning valves in the saphenous system and, in someone your age, there may also be a genetic component. You should see a vein specialist for a venous evaluation.

In brief: Venous disease

Sounds like early venous disease could be the source.
Pressure on your leg could be blocking venous outflow. This would cause the veins further down the leg to bulge. This could be evaluated at a vein center with ultrasound.
