Other conditions may also elevate serum iron concentration and transferrin saturation, particularly the recent ingestion of medicinal iron or iron-fortified vitamin preparations, or oral contraceptives. Therefore, if the transferrin saturation is elevated, the test should be repeated after eliminating such confounding v.
