In brief: Yes and no

Dentures can be made over root stumps after root canals are done on the teeth and are called over dentures.
In certain cases, a denture can be made over natural teeth but those situations are rare.

In brief: Yes

There are a few ways to do this and it is worth considering for an important reason: the function and health of your jaw bone is to serve and support the teeth and their roots.
Once these are gone, the bone loses it's functional stimulation and resorbs, or "melts away" over time. Dental implants can replace this functional stimulation, by the way.

In brief: Over Denture

Yes, you can. It is a concept called overdenture.
It was used widely before implants came along. The idea was to preserve as much bone as possible. Teeth were cut down to the gum-line. Also, since the teeth were endodontically treated (root canals), attachments were placed within the canal area to achieve good retention. Poss problems: cavities around the roots and gum disease. Still a tx option.

In brief: Yes

If all your teeth are badly broken down and decayed then they can be repaired and then prepared to have a thin gold sleeve or telescope fitted over them. A denture can then be fabricated to fit over these telescopes kind of like your hab nd fitting into a glove.
