In brief: Depends
Depends on if the insomnia is due to stress, psychiatric disorder, a primary sleep disorder, another medical condition, medications or poor sleep hygiene.
The best treatment is addressing the reasons for the insomnia. Chronic insomnia is best treated with a behavioral program called cbt. Medications are usually indicated for short term use.

In brief: YES
A person must be honestly committed to it! a committed person will: 1.
Stop drinking caffeine and alcohol (and all street drugs), 2. Get 20 minutes of good exercise (aerobic or anaerobic) a day, and 3. Get out of bed before 6am and in bed before 10pm. A true, genuine, no cheating commitment to this is a guarantee cure to insomnia. It won't work without the true, real commitment. Do it.
