I was on a humira (adalimumab) dose of every 2 weeks but psoriasis flared up a lot recently after a few years of remission. I'm on humira (adalimumab) weekly now. Is that ok?

In brief: Psoriasis

Sometimes switching to a different biologic will help.

Patients not responsding to one TNF inhibitor might respond to another. There are also other biologics that are not TNF inibitors like Stelera.

In brief: Maybe but...

Some patients treated with this type of biologic agent either don't respond or stop responding at some point.
It's possible that you may be developing antibodies against the proteins in Humira that are neutralizing the medication. Increasing the dose to weekly may or may not help and may cause increased immune suppression. Ask your dermatologist about another biologic medication called stelara (ustekinumab).

In brief: More frequent is OK

Humira (adalimumab) is approved for every two weeks, but that does not always control what ever it is being used for (there are 5 indications including psoriasis and your physician will decrease the interval until a dose that works is found.
This will need approval by your insurance company and not every company will allow. You still need to be closely monitored for safety and at this dose.
