In brief: No

Mild swelling and mild fever is common.
Not very red or swollen. Possibly the needle punctured a blood vessel? Consult with her pediatrician or primary care dr..

In brief: Yes

Be thankful that her body recognizes an enemy when it sees one (even if only in a mirror), and is fighting hard to protect itself.

In brief: Infection

A lot of times children get "lumps , bumps, knots;swelling " after their shots.
These are not unusual. But, being very swollen, red and hot , needs immediate attention.Your child may possibly have an infection - cellulitis and need to be treated with antibiotics.Fever is common after shots. Take your child to her pediatrician as soon as possible. In the meantime, give her tylenol/motrin to ease pain.
