I agree with dr. Higginbotham. I would add that the cause of the rectal prolapse often times will cause prolapse of other organs that rest on the pelvic floor. The american urogynecologic society and society of gynecologic surgeons have website information that is safe and accurate to help with the multiple problems associated with pelvic floor dysfunction.
