Should I see a specialist for depression, or can my regular doctor take care of it?

In brief: Depends
Depression may mimic other disorders or may have other disorders associated with it, making it more complicated then it may seem. The primary care can prescribe an antidepressant but a specialist will be able to evaluate, and formulate a complete biopsychosocial history to integrate a comprehensive treatment plan.
Treating depression or any of these conditions is more then just taking a pill.
