There are many strains of hpv virus that are capable of causing genital warts.
The hpv vaccines protect against 2 or 4 of the more common / more worrisome hpv strains. Warts caused by other strains of hpv are still possible. The vaccine gives good protection against the 2 strains most responsible for causing cervical cancers.
