Stomach ulcers were very common 40-50 years ago.
They still occur, but are not nearly as common. Some of the decrease is due to medicines like tagamet and nexium, (esomeprazole) but they were declining even before tagamet came out. Still if you have persistent pain in your upper abdomen, especially with burning, see your doctor.
