Soon starting amitriptyline 10mg for migraine. Also frequently use Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for allergies. Safe if taken a few hrs apart?

In brief: Yes, if prescribed

This low dose of amitriptylene may help prevent migraines, but may have some sedation & constipation with it.
Best to take it at night. You might consider other, newer options for allergies that aren't as sedating as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) -- especially when added to amitriptylene. Discuss with your doctor, who knows you best..

In brief: Consider other optio

When these meds are used together you may experience increased constipation, dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness amongst other ses.
If you must take these medications together it is best to take them at least 4 hours apart. Unless your doctor instructed you otherwise or if previous attempts have failed, you may be better off using another allergy medication such as claritin, (loratadine) allegra, or zyrtec.

In brief: Should be safe

Those two medications, taken a few hours apart should be safe.
However, be cautious with activity because you may find yourself more fatigued with taking them closer together. Otherwise, a few hours apart should not be any problem at all.
