In brief: Rest, fluids

Bad colds are common this time of year. Drink plenty of water, flush the nose with saline, and rest.
Use a clean humidifier or vaporizer. Stay home to prevent spread to others if you have a fever. Use pain relievers if needed. Cough medicines have not been shown to work well. Honey actually might help coughs. If worsening or difficulty breathing, see your doc.

In brief: Bad cold

Drink plenty of fluids; get adequate rest; use tylenol/nsaid for fever or pain; decongestants for nasal/sinus congestion or antihistamine for runny nose.
Warm salty liquids like bouillon or chicken soup help sooth the throat & break up phlegm. If symptoms worsen, see your fp for further treatment.
