On average, how long should it take for an internal hemorrhoid to heal with a rectal ointment?

In brief: Depends

It depends on your definition of "heal".
Avoiding constipation with hi fiber diet, lots of fluids, stop reading on the toilet, many if not all of your symptoms will resolve relatively shortly. A formal hemorrhoid surgery done by an experienced surgeon should resolve the problem permanently and the will not come back. But try conservative management before going the surgical route.

In brief: Won't heal

The creams and treatments are usually symptomatic and don't "cure" internal hemorrhoids.
Even with surgical removal or banding, they will most likely come back. The goal is to make them symptomatically tolerable and to avoid complications.
