How come I have shingles, but nobody else in the family has it?

Does run in families. Shingles is from the chicken pox virus that you had when you were younger. Children who have not been vaccinated can get chicken pox from someone with shingles. However, a person with shingles can not give someone else shingles. The immunity to this virus over time does drop gradually and that is when shingles appears. People over 50 can be vaccinated to boost their immunity.
