In brief: A few days

Pyelonephritis is a urinary tract infection that has spread to the kidneys.
Appropriate antibiotics (outpatient oral or inpatient iv) will usually decrease the symptoms in hours or a couple days. Increased fluid intake will help speed recovery.

Once pyelonephritis has resolved there may be a need for further testing to determine why you developed this. Many cases are associated with abnormalities of the urinary tract anatomy.
