In brief: Not uncommon
Peak incidence is in early puberty.
Can also occur in newborns immediately before, during or shortly after delivery. In fact can occur at any age but uncommon after 30-40 years of age. I have personally seen it in newborns and the oldest was 45-years-old. Important thing:- is for public and drs is to assume that acute onset testicular pain is torsion until proven otherwise. Time is of the essence.
