Is having a prominent vein in the breast, itchy & swollen sometimes a bad thing?

In brief: Sometimes

Normally we would not expect the veins in the breast to hurt or be swollen.
However, a swollen painful vein could be nothing more than enlargement during the menstrual cycle which doesn't apply to you if you have had a hysterectomy. It could also be due to irritation of the veins in that area or even to a clot forming in the veins in the breast but this also is not common. F/u with your gyn md/.
