In brief: Possibly

An ultrasound only tells you that there is something there.
Throat cancer is often easily seen by an ENT exam. However, an ultrasound can tell if a lymph node has an abnormal architecture possibly because it is infiltrated by tumor. Thyroid nodules that are hypervascular, hypoechioc, or contain calcifications on ultrasound are more likely to be malignant. For neck or thyroid mass see ent.
