In brief: Anxiety pre echo

This depends on the extent of the echo.
If external chest echo alone is treated then it may be done under no or local anesthesia without any other sedation. If you are having tee o if requested, this may require general and/or IV sedation in which case you will probably be given anxiolytics via your IV immediately prior to the procedure. You should have a designated driver and someone to assist.
