In brief: I&D if needed

See your doctor if the paronychia doesn't resolve in a few days or gets severely painful swollen and warm. A pus pocket might have formed and no amount of antibiotic will make it better- it may need to be lanced (i.
e. Incised and drained).

In brief: Antibiotics

A paronychia is an infection of the nail bed, usually due to staphylococcus.
If may need drainage. Antibiotics are usually used as well. Soaking afterward helps. Paronychia is very painful - don't try to suffer with it at home.
