In brief: Penicillin

Injectable(intramuscular) penicillin remaims the treatment of choice for all stages of syphilis.
If the patient is penicillin allergic, other choices include tetracyclines, macrolides, such as erthromycin and ceftriaxone. Duration of therapy depends on the stage of the disease. Some of the non penicillin treatments suffer from antibiotic resistance. Follow up to insure cure is advised.

In brief: Penicillin

The treatment for syphilis is penicillin, which is an antibiotic.
It is usually given as an injection. Sometimes you may need more than one injection depending on how widespread it is. Other antibiotics are available if you allergic to penicillin. Discuss this with your doctor.
