In brief: See any doctor
Your regular doctor should be able to check you if you have suspicious spots on your skin and probably can even take a biopsy to make the diagnosis.
If you are diagnosed with squamous cell skin cancer then you probably should see a skin cancer specialist such as a mohs surgeon or a facial plastic surgeon for treatment as these can be aggressive cancers.

In brief: It depends
Most primary care physicians are well-trained in skin examinations, including squamous cell.
That being said, skin cancer can be deceptive & difficult to interpret. Ask your primary md; your doctor wants the best for you, and if he/she is uncomfortable with your skin exam, they will be able to tell you. Other good choices would be a dermatologist or a surgical oncologist.

In brief: Mohs surgeon
Mohs surgery is the gold standard for treating skin cancer with highest cure rate (99%).
It is important that you verify that your mohs surgeon is recognized as a fellowship-trained surgeon. Only members of the american college of mohs surgery (acms) are fellowship trained to perform mohs surgery and are listed on their website directory. The link to the acms website: http://www.Mohscollege.Org.
