Yes. Wegener's will not go away. It might take time but will ultimately cause severe lung and kidney problems, and death. Treatment can be very effective.
Yes. Wegener's is 100% fatal untreated, and it is not gentle or fast. Thankfully, the vast majority of people with wegener's get excellent results with today's treatments, and eventually the treated disease often remits.
Autoimmune disease. Like all autoimmune diseases, the cause is not really known, but likely a combination of genetic factors and environmental exposures (e.g., infections, chemicals, pollutants). Treatment depends on how severe disease it is. Typically steroids (e.g. Prednisone) and if severe, Cytoxan or rituxan (rituximab).
