My large toenail is almost off. One side is hanging on. If something pulls it-it's painful! i taped it down. (medical tape.) okay? Will it fall off?

In brief: Yes it will fall off

Try to keep it taped.
Try trimming the loose unconnected portion of the nail plate.

Trim the loose portion of nail to prevent snagging, but do not pull on it. It may cause bleeding, increased pain or infection if you do it instead of a doctor.

In brief: Loose nail

A loose toe nail will eventually fall off; try to soak it in warm water with hydrogen peroxide and salt.
Then apply a topical antibiotic. If it stays on, you may need to see a podiatrist. Unfortunately, podiatrists do not treat hands. Go see a dermatologist for your hand nails.

In brief: Yes

Nails take time to grow out.
Toenails grow out slower than fingernails. Average toenail growth rate is about 1.5 mm/month compared to fingernail growth rate of about 3.5 mm/month. The big toenail grows faster than other toenails & the little fingernail grows slower than other fingernails. Hope this helps. Good health and nutrition can't hurt.

As the new nail grows it wil push the old nail off.

In brief: It's ok

It likely won't fall off, unless something tears it off.
If possible if you can clip the end then it will be off and you don't have to worry.
