In brief: Many patterns

Classical migraine is commonly preceeded by an 'aura' which is some symptom indicating that a migraine will follow.
It is a sort of warning when it happens. In your case your aura is shaky vision. This is not in itself bad although migraines an be quite distressing.

In brief: Migraine

Visual symptoms are common with "classic" migraine.
Visual symptoms include: sensating of flashing lights, dark spots, and discomfort in bright light (photophobia), which is most common. These do not indicate a complication. Rarely, one can actually transiently lose vision in one eye with a migraine, which represents a more severe headache, but it usually reverses on its own.
