Is it really the case that we cannot prevent a cardiac arrest by any means?

In brief: Variable

We can reduce atherosclerosis.
We can reduce chemical imbalances - potassium/ magnesium etc we can control diabetes, many arrythmias, high blood pressure etc. So we can impact occurrence and frequency but some will still have cardiac events is true.

In brief: Cardiac arrest

We use whatever we have to try and prevent cardiac arrest in our patients at high risk.
Nothing we do is 100% effective. When the risk is very high we implant an icd which can treat ventricular tachyarrhythmia or bradycardia cardiac arrest.
