Both! Neither! Ibuprofen is an nsaid, useful to relieve pain, fever & inflammation. Naproxen is a similar drug, also available w/o prescription. Tylenol (acetaminophen) vs ibuprofen for kids; any recommendations?

Depends. Ibuprofen is my preferred med. It lasts longer (isn't gives so often). I shouldn't be given < 6m due to risks of kidney irritation. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a fine med but doesn't last as long. I don't recommend alternating the two when a kid has a fever as I have never seen it work well & i respect but don't worry so much about fever. Yes. One processed in liver and other the kidney. Should not exceed 4g tylenol (acetaminophen) per day and about 3200mg Ibuprofen per day. Ibuprofen worst case will upset stomach at higher levels short term but overtaking tylenol (acetaminophen) can induce liver damage so need to be more cautious with this one. Read more...
