In brief: Diabetic skin ulcers
Diabetics can have different kinds of ulcerations.
They can get neuropathic ulcerations due to nerve damage. They can get ulcerations from arterial disease due to advanced plaque formation in arteries. They are also more prone to pressure and may develop ulcerations from pressure. Diabetics can even have venous disease and develop ulcerations from this also. A wound care expert can evaluate.

most common wounds which come on in the feet. starting with small cracks and thickened skin while having abnormal sensation and circulation. One crucial step is to prevent wounds by preventing trauma and keeping the feet clean.

The question is quite broad. I was wondering what aspect of the problem is questioned. Diabetic foot ulcer is a major topic. I am not sure if it is only for general knowledge or it is for specific reason and in related to a patient.

In brief: Complex
Diabetic ulcers can be quite complex.
Diabetic patients tend to develope peripheral vascular disease, neuropathy, and other complications of the disease. Pressure, trauma, and other stress factors can lead to diabetic ulcers. It is important for diabetics to check their feet regularly and not go barefoot.
