Rapid blood loss, think: gunshot wound, leads to immediate shock and death, obviously.
Gradual blood loss leads to anemia with symptoms of fatigue, weakness, apathy, and malaise. Very severe anemia is surprisingly well tolerated for long periods if it has occurred very slowly like due to menstruation without adequate iron replacement or slow bleeding in the bowels.
