Whey is a good protein, but if you're intolerant or allergic to dairy products it might not be the "perfect protein" for you.
If this is the case, others you could use instead include soy and pea protein. You would know by the way you feel after consuming the whey -- more bowel complaints, bloating, possibly diarrhea, etc.

whey protein is lactose free. Obviously a milk protein allergy would preclude using it, but the caveat with pea and soy: you need to ingest 30% more because the amino acid comosition is less ideal than whey or albumin.

Yes it's lactose free -- but it's still dairy protein, which is what I meant.
