Is there anything that can be done for gallstones besides having your gallbladder removed?

In brief: Low-Fat Diet

Unfortunately, once symptoms develop, the best rx is to remove the gallbladder. We can use drugs or soundwaves to dissolve stones, but, unfortunately, they just come back.
Switching to a low-fat diet can help some people avoid attacks, but this is not reliable. "gallbladder flushes" are dangerous as stones can get stuck in the bile duct and block the liver and/or cause pancreatitis.
