In brief: Monitoring Centers
Lymphatic system absorbs/carries things too big to go into the arteries/veins like bacteria eaten by white cells/digested food.
Lymph nodes "taste" the lymph everywhere for bad stuff like bacteria/viruses/cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and your body reacts. They enlarge in response to the inflammation they create when they react. They shrink when all is well.

In brief: Enlarged lymph nodes
The neck is a very common area for persistent enlarged lymph glands.
They result from multiple respiratory and throat infections. If they are multiple, less than 2 CM in size, mobile, and do not cause pain, there is nothing to be done. Long term antibiotic treatment is not indicated. Over time they will go away on their own. If one node is a lot larger than the others, consider biopsy.

In brief: Infections
The fact there is a positive respose to antibiotics certainly entertains the possiblity of chronic infections but any adenopathy not resolving and on both sides of body as well as upper and lower body needs an evaluation with a complete inectious workup, lymphoma workup and probable biopsy .
There are many condition both serious and benign that could be the cause please seek medical evaluation.
