In brief: A bit

It is a mood stabilizer, but not a great one.
I like it for pain and anxiety, but would rarely prescribe for just andiety.

In brief: No

Gabapentin is indicated for seizures, painful nerve diseases, restless leg syndrome, and hot flashes.
First line therapy for general anxiety is either a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (ssri) like Prozac or a serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (snri) like cymbalta (duloxetine). You should see your family md for help with anxiety.
