In brief: Impacted ear wax

Impacted ear wax or cerumen is best softened with either hydrogen peroxide, debrox, Cerumenex or olive oil.
I have found peroxide to be quite successful at softening ear wax at minimal expense. I do not recommend self irrigating your ear. Have your primary care provider check your ear(s) and clean them or refer you to an ear, nose and throat specialist as needed. Please do not use q-tips. Ever.
