One can decrease snoring by: avoiding alcohol at bedtime, avoid sleeping on your back, and losing weight.
If these don't work there are a number of office procedures that can help. An ENT md can be very useful in this regard.

Snoring can be either 1) a social issue - no one wants to sleep with you or 2) an indication of something more serious - sleep apnea.
Simple snoring can be caused by nasal obstruction or an elongated and floppy uvula. If associated with apnea, then other structures like tonsils and the base of the tongue could be contributing to the problem. I would absolutely see an ENT - and get a sleep study.

Some things you can do sleeping in certain positions, weight loss, . Also there are some products out there that are applied to the nose before bed to open up the airways. You can certainly try any of these.
